(CMSC: Benbrook, TX ) -- The Coordinate Metrology Society announced today its 29th annual Coordinate Metrology Systems Conference (CMSC) attracted more than 500 professionals worldwide in the 3D portable measurement and inspection field. CMSC 2013 was held July 22-26, 2013 at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina in San Diego, CA. A record-breaking 27 technical presentations were conducted in five sessions during the conference. The weeklong conference and technology expo was attended by manufacturers, engineers, scientists, quality control specialists, metrologists, educators, and students from six countries. The Coordinate Metrology Society is comprised of professional and novice users, service providers, and OEM manufacturers of close-tolerance industrial coordinate measurement systems, software, and peripherals.

The conference is known for its superior slate of technical papers and presentations delivered by industry experts from around the globe. The CMS will kick off the event with its traditional icebreaker for all attendees and exhibitors on Monday night, July 22. This popular, social networking event is sponsored by FARO Technologies. (CMSC: San Diego, CA) --The Coordinate Metrology Society (CMS), the preeminent membership association for measurement professionals, has announced the launch of the industry’s first Level-One Certification for Portable 3D Metrology. The first examinations will be held at the 29th annual Coordinate Metrology Systems Conference (CMSC), July 22–26, 2013, in San Diego.

Applicants for the Level-One Certification must submit an application, meet eligibility requirements, sign the CMS code of ethics, and pass a peer review. Qualifying candidates will be notified and scheduled for an examination seat at CMSC 2013. The cost for a CMS member to take the certification exam is $400; nonmember pricing is also available. Certification program guidelines and application forms are available on the CMS website.

(CMS: Benbrook, TX) -- The Coordinate Metrology Society (CMS) has announced its call for papers is now open for the 29th annual Coordinate Metrology Systems Conference (CMSC), to be held July 22–26, 2013, in San Diego, California. The CMS is the eminent membership association for measurement professionals around the globe.

The organization cordially invites its community members and metrology professionals in manufacturing, science research, and academia to submit abstracts for technical papers and presentations. The CMS accepts submissions covering the successful deployment of 3D coordinate measurement systems, industry best practices, and scientific research and developments. The CMS convenes each year at the CMSC, a unique event designed for users of portable, high-precision measurement technology utilized to inspect manufactured and assembled components on the factory floor.

The CMS Executive Committee peer-reviews and considers each abstract for presentation at CMSC 2013. The deadline for abstracts is March 15, 2013. Notification of acceptance will occur on April 1, 2013. (CMSC: Benbrook, TX) -- The Coordinate Metrology Society (CMS), the eminent membership association for industrial measurement professionals, is hosting the first CMSC Metrology Careers Fair on Thursday, July 19, 2012, from 10 a.m.–11:30 a.m., during the Coordinate Metrology Systems Conference (CMSC 2012). The conference will run July 16–20, 2012, in the exhibition hall at The Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans. Admission to the CMSC Metrology Careers Fair is free, but you must check in at the conference registration desk to gain entry to the Fair.

This event is designed to generate interest in the field of metrology (the science of measurement), and to engage and educate young engineers, measurement novices and experts, and industrial professionals looking for a new career path. The Careers Fair is ideal for those with backgrounds in engineering and manufacturing. Attendees are encouraged to bring their resumes and questions about the field of metrology.

(CMSC: Benbrook, TX) -- The Coordinate Metrology Society (CMS), the eminent membership association for measurement professionals, is hosting its third large-scale, interactive measurement study, as well as two other events at the 28th annual Coordinate Metrology Systems Conference (CMSC), July 16–20, 2012, at The Roosevelt New Orleans, a Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New Orleans.

The measurement study will focus on the importance of practical testing. Data collection activity is coordinated by the National Physical Laboratory, which is the national measurement institute for the United Kingdom, and sponsored by the Metrologic Group, a designer and manufacturer of dimensional control systems and 3-D inspection software headquartered in Meylan, France. Members of the CMS Certification Committee assist in the data collection. In the past two years, more than 300 conference attendees have also participated in the data collection activity.

Metrology is the science of measurement, and professionals in this field work in diverse industries such as aerospace, automotive, power generation, and more.

The CMS Certification Committee will conduct pilot metrology examinations free of charge each day during the five-day event. Conference attendees, both experts and novices, are encouraged to test their general knowledge of portable 3-D metrology and contribute to the success of the first level-one personnel certification in portable 3-D metrology program in the industry.
