(CMSC: Benbrook, TX) -- The Coordinate Metrology Society (CMS) has released the submission guidelines for its Academic Poster Presentation Session at the 2011 Coordinate Metrology Systems Conference (CMSC), which is being held in Phoenix, July 25–29, 2011.

The intention of the Academic Poster Presentation Session is to give researchers, educators, and students access to a highly relevant industry community in order to share their work with the people who will be the first benefactors of the academic works. The event will be social in nature and will allow one-on-one and small-group interaction between academics and other CMSC members.

Because of the diversity of its membership, the CMS encourages poster presentations to cover a wide range of academic topics related to coordinate metrology, including:
• Descriptions of theoretical research or research capabilities
• Descriptions of theoretical or practical coursework and degree programs
• Descriptions of laboratory or calibration facilities
• Descriptions of consulting services supported by the academic institution

Eligibility

Participants of the poster presentation session must currently be employed by or enrolled in a college, university, or technical school.

(CMSC: Benbrook, TX) -- Education is paramount at the Coordinate Metrology Systems Conference (CMSC). This year, there will be four educational workshops, held in the afternoons. Topics include the metrology certification initiative, gauge repeatability and reproducibility (R&R), 3-D imaging, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).

Tuesday, July 13

The sessions kick off on Tuesday afternoon with a review of the activities of the CMS metrology certification subcommittee, and an interactive session on the next steps in this process.  Efforts during the past year have generated a body of knowledge, and the three other workshops will all draw from that to provide a taste of the content of a certification program.
