(CMSC: Benbrook, TX) -- The Coordinate Metrology Society, the preeminent membership association for measurement professionals, is reminding quality professionals that the March 1, 2012, call for papers deadline for the 2012 Coordinate Metrology Systems Conference (CMSC) is approaching. The 28th annual event will be held July 16–20, 2012, in New Orleans. The organization welcomes abstracts for presentations and technical papers submitted by metrology professionals from leading manufacturers, science laboratories, and academia.

Suggested topics include industry best practices, scientific research and developments, and successful applications of 3-D coordinate measurement systems. The CMSC is the only North American conference dedicated solely to users of portable, high-precision measurement technology used to inspect manufactured and assembled components on the factory floor.

With more than 20 white paper presentations each year, the conference explores trends and solutions related to the metrology field. The CMSC is the only North American conference dedicated solely to users of portable, high-precision measurement technology used to inspect manufactured and assembled components on the factory floor.

The organization welcomes abstracts for presentations and technical papers submitted by metrology professionals from manufacturers, science laboratories, and academia. Suggested topics include industry best practices, scientific research and developments, and successful applications of 3-D coordinate measurement systems. At the 2011 CMSC, 26 presentations were delivered by industry leaders and educational institutions covering technology, theory, and practice to advance the field of 3-D metrology.

Abstract submissions will be peer-reviewed by the CMS and considered for presentation at CMSC 2012.

The Coordinate Metrology Society (CMS) announced today the results of their large-scale, interactive measurement study conducted at the 27th annual Coordinate Metrology Systems Conference (CMSC).

The 58-page report entitled “How Behavior Impacts Your Measurement” focuses on measurement strategies and behaviors of coordinate metrologists. More than 100 conference attendees participated in the data collection activity coordinated by the National Physical Laboratory (UK) assisted by members of the CMS Certification Committee. Metrology is the science of measurement, and professionals in this field work in diverse industries such as aerospace, automotive, power generation, and more. The full report can be downloaded here.

(CMSC: Benbrook, TX) -- The Coordinate Metrology Society (CMS) has announced its final schedule of events for the 27th annual Coordinate Metrology Systems Conference (CMSC) scheduled for July 25–29, 2011, at the Arizona Biltmore Hotel and Spa in Phoenix, Arizona. The conference will kick off with its customary ice-breaker event for all attendees and exhibitors on Monday evening, July 25. This popular, social networking event is co-sponsored by Hexagon Metrology and the CMS.

On Wednesday morning, July 27, the CMS will host a 5 Billion Micron Fun Run/Walk. Attendees should bring their running shoes. Water and T-shirts will be provided for all participants by sponsor InnovMetric. Technical paper presentations and workshops will be held during the day on Tuesday through Thursday.

The purpose of the workshop is to explore the measurement strategies and behaviors of coordinate metrologists.

(CMSC: Benbrook, TX) -- The Coordinate Metrology Society (CMS) has chosen 26 technical white papers to be presented at its annual Coordinate Metrology Systems Conference (CMSC), scheduled for July 25–29, 2011, at the Arizona Biltmore Hotel and Spa in Phoenix, Arizona. Technical paper submissions were received from metrology experts and scientists from research laboratories, universities, and leading manufacturers in the United States and Canada, Europe, and Asia. Registration for the conference is now open, and the CMSC has extended the early-bird registration discount for attendees until May 27, 2011.

The 2011 speaker roster is as diverse as the topics to be presented, which include aerospace and automotive metrology applications, reducing plastic injection-tool tuning iterations with scanning technology, measuring cooling holes in gas turbines with computed tomography, measurement strategies in industrial robot applications, reducing engineering time for compensation of large CNC machines, and other applications of photogrammetry, laser trackers, articulating arms, laser radar, 3-D scanners, 3-D vision systems and more.
