Hormel Foods Corp. recently bestowed its Hormel No. 1 Award on Silgan Containers, a subsidiary of Silgan Holdings.

Hormel uses a supplier quality management system to evaluate its largest suppliers’ performance in deliveries, quality, administrative services and customer satisfaction.

“Silgan earned the award because of the dedication to quality demonstrated by the individuals in their organization,” said Russ Potter, Hormel vice president of operations. Hormel Foods has presented the No. 1 Award every five years since 1995.

As Hormel’s largest supplier, Silgan has been selling containers to the company since 1927, providing it with 18 different types and sizes of cans. Silgan has also won Hormel’s Spirit of Excellence award for each of the last 13 years.
