(ASQ: Milwaukee) -- The American Society for Quality (ASQ) will offer a one-day conference titled "First Congress ASQ Mexico: Quality and Education" Thursday, Sept. 10, at La Hacienda de los Morales, Mexico City. The event is part of the ASQ Mexico office grand opening.

The event theme reflects ASQ’s commitment to quality in education worldwide, with the belief that the future depends on children and college students receiving the best instruction.

"Quality education is a critical component to the future of Mexico. Improving how teachers educate and students learn by using quality processes will greatly contribute to advancing the quality of education in Mexico," says Robert Chalker, ASQ global managing director. "This congress serves as a stepping stone for educators to learn from one another."

Presenters and their session topics at the conference include:

• Roberto Saco, chair, ASQ, "The Forces of Change"
• Fernando Padro, professor of educational leadership, Monmouth University, West Long Branch, New Jersey, "Quality as Philosophy and the Universities"
• Marvella Villalobos, Ph.D., Pedagogy, Universidad Panamericana, "Competencies for Quality in Education"
• Rafael de Arrascaeta, Sistemas de Calidad Educativa, "Main Issues Regarding Education in Mexico"
