The famous baseball player and sometimes philosopher Yogi Berra is credited with saying, “The future ain’t what it used to be,” and he really got that prediction right. Things are nothing like I imagined they would be 25 years ago. Maybe in my teen years I watched too much Beyond 2000 and read too much Popular Science.

Somebody stole the future. OK, cell phones, microwaves, and the Internet are great and all, but I do recall somebody promised us flying cars, a moon base, and a Mars colony. Where are they? Last time I checked, that whole immortality thing was not working out so well, either.
