The National Institute of Standards and Technology recently launched a new Web site to increase the profile of international standards online. The new Web site is designed to help individuals and organizations find information about the use of standards in government. The site supports the requirements of the National Technology Transfer and Advancement Act, which was enacted in 1996 and requires federal agencies to adopt public-sector standards while decreasing dependence on internal standards.
The site is maintained by NIST. For more information, visit http://standards.gov/standards_gov/.
