(EMG Presses: Marigny-Saint-Marcel, France) -- EMG Presses, a leading manufacturer of manual, pneumatic, mechanical, and hydropneumatic presses, is launching an innovation dedicated to the needs of monitoring and total traceability of industrial processes.

EMG offers a range of force and/or displacement management solutions combining force and displacement sensors connected to a display for complete part control.

This new equipment enables permanent and accurate quality control and anomaly detection on rack-and-pinion, toggle, or pneumatically operated bench machines used in manual, automated, or semiautomated workstations.

Suitable for use in the most challenging industrial environments, this plug-and-play solution enables the production of compliant parts right from the manufacturing stage and includes multiprogram management, sequence programming, and statistics provision, and can be an important part of any SPC process.

“At a time when production lines are undergoing digital transformation, we had to offer an agile and easily integrable solution,” says Ugo Baldassini, U.S. and Canada EMG sales manager. “The complete EMG-CONTROL ecosystem is a turnkey solution which, as a first or second fit, enables manufacturers to digitize their workshops independently.”

Measure, control, and store force, stroke, and time variables

EMG-CONTROL offers a wide variety of standard measurement applications, either simple or combined, such as force, force and distance, force/time, and distance/time.

Measurements can be displayed in the form of bar graphs, smileys, numerical values, and curves, and allow the user to view measurement history in real time in graph form. A sequence editor allows total control over the display and measurement process.

Simple and intuitive for the operator

Anomalies are detected immediately if the required parameters are not met. The monitoring unit displays an “OK” or “NOK” message via an optical display, an audible signal, or by locking the press in position. This signal enables the operator to immediately isolate the noncompliant part.

Flexible and easy to configure for a wide variety of applications

The plug-and-play sensor with TEDS (transducer electronic data sheet) technology is self-calibrating and, when connected to the display, is automatically recognized and configured, eliminating the need for manual configuration.

The information is stored in the control unit and can be exported to a PC for analysis, statistics, or archiving purposes.

Data transfer is provided, depending on the version, via USB-A port (host = USB key), USB-C (device = keyboard emulation), COM (ASCII or MODBUS RTU protocol), or Ethernet (Modbus TCP or file generation on server).

Adaptable to all brands of presses and automated machines

“EMG has developed an incredible solution—modern, high performing, user friendly and cost effective—which has been unanimously praised by all our clients,” says Jon from Productivity Solutions Co. (EMG’s long-standing partner in the U.S.).

Eric, his colleague, says, “Although primarily designed for EMG manual and pneumatic press ranges, the EMG-CONTROL solution is also available in the form of adaptation kits for all brands of manual and pneumatic presses, as well as for automated machines or semiautomated workstations, with the addition, as required, of modules and terminals to ensure optimum connectivity.”
