Precision Machining and CNC Contests Are Set at SkillsUSA

(NIMS: Fairfax, VA) -- The Precision Machining Technology, CNC Milling, and CNC Turning Championships will be held during the week of June 21–24 in Kansas City, Missouri, as part of the 2011 SkillsUSA National Championships. SkillsUSA, a partnership of students, teachers, and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled work force, organizes these competitions as a showcase for the best career and technical students in the nation.

The Precision Machining Technology (PMT) contest is coordinated by the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) with support from industry leaders including Haas Automation, Sandvik Coromant, L.S. Starrett, and Industrial Press. NIMS has also had the support of the Association for Manufacturing Technology, the Precision Metalforming Association Foundation, and the National Tooling and Machining Foundation. The Precision Machining Technology and CNC contests are based on NIMS Levels I and II Machining Skill Standards.
