Mitutoyo America Corp. recently received a 2005 World Excellence Award from Ford Motor Co. The award was one of 60 presented on May 3, 2006, in Dearborn, Michigan, to Ford’s top global suppliers for their performance in 2005. The award recognizes suppliers that achieve the highest levels of cost efficiencies, quality and deliver rates, while embracing Ford’s vision to build on its legacy of innovation. Mitutoyo received the Recognition of Achievement in New Consumer-Focused Technology award.

“Our World Excellence Award-winning suppliers are integral to our ability to address the needs of customers today and tomorrow,” says Thomas K. Brown, Ford Global Purchasing senior vice president. “We are grateful for their ceaseless concentration on delivering value.”

Ford recently selected Mitutoyo’s SV-M3000 computer numerically-controlled form-measuring machine for use in building its powertrain components. The device will replace manual measurement in cylinder head manufacturing cells.
