Hyperion Solutions Corp., which makes business performance management (BPM) software, has agreed to buy Decisioneering Inc., a provider of decision analysis software.

Business performance management entails predictive analytic applications that enable organizations to maximize success, mitigate risk and understand uncertainty. Purchasing Decisioneering should let Hyperion better integrate risk management into solutions that automate the business management cycle, according to a statement.

“As part of Hyperion, we will not only be adding our predictive analysis capabilities to Hyperion’s suite of applications, but also helping extend the power of BPM beyond the CFO’s office,” says Jim Franklin, president and CEO of Decisioneering.
