Metrologists and gaging specialists can now enjoy a selection of Modern Machine Shop’s popular "Quality Gaging Tips" columns in book form. The columns, authored by George Schuetz and the late Jim McCusker, both of Mahr Federal Inc., have appeared monthly in the magazine since 1991. Quality Gaging Tips , includes more than 140 columns arranged by topic with additional illustrations not originally included in the magazine. It was published by Hanser Gardner Publications.

“True to their subject matter, these columns present good science and good art,” says Mark Albert, Modern Machine Shop editor in chief. “They are both right and well-written. This book is both useful and fun to read, as it truly should be.”

The book is arranged in 14 general topics, including Indicators, Gaging Basics, Surface Finish, Electronics, Calibration, Hole Measurement, SPC, Machine Calibration, Gage Blocks and Air Gaging.
