Starrett to Showcase Full-Range Metrology and Automated Wireless Data Collection Solutions at IMTS

Demonstrating fast, accurate wireless measurement data acquisition

Published: Wednesday, June 22, 2022 - 11:58

(L.S. Starrett Co.: Athol, MA) -- L.S. Starrett Co., a leading global manufacturer of precision measuring tools and gauges, metrology systems and more, will be demonstrating the latest in quality control inspection technology at International Manufacturing Technology Show booth 135044 in the Quality Pavilion, East Hall in McCormick Place in Chicago from Sept 12- 17, 2022.

For the first time at a live major event, attendees can see demonstrations of automated wireless measurement data capture and transmission from handheld wireless/electronic gauges via the new DataSure 4.0 Wireless Data Collection System, or from vision systems and optical comparators via integrated software supporting Industry 4.0, IoT, and the Digital Factory.

Among the wide range of Starrett solutions highlighted at the show will be the latest optical comparators, multisensor vision systems, and video-based inspection and measurement systems, DataSure 4.0, which substantially increases the accuracy and speed of data collection, and the latest precision wireless/electronic tools and gauges. Special custom gauge solutions and force-testing systems, as well as granite surface plates, gauge blocks, and more will also be showcased. Most products to be featured in the booth are also made in the United States, a commitment that Starrett maintained throughout its history.

“Supporting smart manufacturing and connectivity, we are excited to demonstrate at IMTS the very latest solutions in wireless measurement data collection and transmission, in addition to our wide breadth of leading metrology solutions,” says Emerson Leme, vice president of Industrial Products at Starrett.

Metrology systems solutions

Among a full range of products and solutions that Starrett will feature at the show is one of the most versatile multisensor vision systems available today—the new customizable AVX, featuring an innovative dual optical system, combining the best features of vision and touch-probe inspection, and designed to measure parts with a diverse range of features, sizes, and geometries. Also, the recently enhanced AVR300 Multi-Sensor Vision System, featuring the largest field of view (FOV) to date for Starrett, and ideal for repetitive measurements and automatic comparison to CAD files, will be demonstrated.

The industry leader in rugged, accurate, and reliable optical comparators, Starrett will showcase its latest benchtop models with new MetLogix Mx200 Digital Readouts (DRO), which combine an intuitive user experience with current touchscreen conventions and a wide range of functionality. A horizontal digital video comparator will also be demonstrated, combining vision and optical comparator technology. For easy setup and operation, video-based inspection and measurement systems will also be in the booth.

Starrett will discuss its force-testing systems, highlighting the flexible architecture that enables the range of Starrett force- and material-testing software programs to be compatible with its different test frames. The Starrett FMS-5000 single-column force-testing system with L3 software for high-volume production and quality control testing will be demonstrated.

Precision tool gauging solutions

Starrett will be displaying a broad range of wireless, electronic and mechanical precision measuring tools, and will debut its new, enhanced, highly accurate, full-featured 2900 Series Digital Indicators, which are now available in wireless models with a rechargeable battery and a new 4-in. range. Models feature true absolute sensor technology that minimizes data loss, glass scales, +/- 0.00005-in. accuracy, and IP67 protection. The latest electronic and wireless micrometers, bore gauges, calipers, and height gauges will also be demonstrated, supporting Industry 4.0 initiatives via DataSure wireless data acquisition.

Measurement standards, custom gauging, and more

Rounding out the Starrett range of measuring solutions at booth #135044 will be Starrett Tru-Stone engineered granite metrology bases, featuring the new Superior Red air bearing/solid machine foundation base, gauge blocks, surface roughness testers, and special gauging capabilities. Attendees are invited to bring their gauging and metrology challenges to the booth, where Starrett engineers can provide technical support and guidance on pursuing customized solutions when conventional solutions will not suffice.

In addition to its show presence, Starrett will be making a presentation at the IMTS Conference Sessions on “Optical Comparators vs. Multisensor Vision Systems: Practical Considerations for Choosing the Right Metrology System.” The presentation by Greg Maisch, engineering manager at Starrett’s metrology division, will be held Tuesday, September 13, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:55 a.m. in room W194-A at McCormick Place.
