(IDS NXT: Stoneham, MA) -- With the new IDS NXT oslo, IDS Imaging Development Systems is systematically expanding its range of high-performance AI cameras. The model combines artificial intelligence with first-class image quality, video streaming, and recording functions in a compact, industrial-grade housing—protected to IP69K standard, the highest degree of protection against the ingress of dust and high-pressure water.

The centerpiece of the new camera is a chip from Ambarella, already known from its sister model, the IDS NXT malibu. It enables compressed video streams in full 5 MP sensor resolution (H.264, MJPEG) with more than 25 frames per second. The output takes place directly on the desired end device via RTSP protocol, without the diversions via an additional PC for analysis or visualization. This makes the camera ideal for applications that require live images, including AI-based overlays.

Thanks to the integrated ISP (image signal processor), users also benefit from automatic features including, for example, brightness, lens distortion, and color correction. Together with the light-sensitive onsemi AR0521 sensor, this ensures excellent image quality even in difficult lighting conditions.

“With IDS NXT oslo, we are launching a versatile AI camera that not only analyzes in real time but also enables direct streaming and recording,” says Patrick Schick, product owner of 3D & Vision Software at IDS. “The robust IP69K housing, including M12 connectors, ensures reliable operation in the most demanding industrial or agricultural environments.”

As part of the IDS NXT complete AI system, IDS NXT oslo also offers perfectly matching components—from hardware to software. Users don’t need any expert knowledge of deep learning, image processing, or programming. The model is now available in series production.
