Captivating Podcast on Manufacturing in the U.S.A. Features Starrett

40-minute podcast explores Starrett’s history and challenges in American manufacturing

Published: Wednesday, May 3, 2023 - 12:00

(The L.S. Starrett Company: Athol, MA) -- The L.S. Starrett Company, a leading manufacturer of precision measuring tools and gauges, metrology systems, and more, recently was featured on the Made in the USA podcast series by Modern Machine Shop Magazine. The interesting, insightful 40-minute podcast delved into Starrett’s perspective on how and why the company since its founding in 1880 continues its commitment to American manufacturing, even though there are challenges in doing so.

The Starrett episode, which is part of the podcast’s second season, first aired on March 7, 2023, and ranked first as the most-listened-to podcast of the series during its first week. This podcast can be heard anytime by visiting www.starrett.com/mia

“We’re proud to have been selected by Modern Machine Shop for an episode in this important podcast series, and we enjoyed having their editors visit our global headquarters in Athol, Massachusetts, for interviews and tours,” says Douglas A. Starrett, president and CEO, The L.S. Starrett Company.

“The hallmark of Starrett quality and innovation is rooted in America. More than 140 years after our founding in 1880, we still maintain our commitment to skilled, dedicated American workers and making tools in the United States of America, where the vast majority of Starrett tools are still manufactured,” Starrett says. Starrett today is the only company making a full line of precision measuring tools in the United States.

Modern Machine Shop’s “Made in the USA” podcast series blends the publication’s nearly century-long expertise in manufacturing with a unique audio storytelling experience to produce a show that shines a spotlight on the past, present, and future of American manufacturing.
