TÜV SÜD America Receives Recognition from Ford for EMC-CS-2009

Michigan EMC lab increases testing capability for large automotive battery systems

(TÜV SÜD America: Plymouth, MI) -- TÜV SÜD America Inc.’s automotive electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) laboratory in Plymouth, Michigan, has received formal recognition from Ford Motor Co. to perform testing to the new EMC-CS-2009 engineering specification that addresses EMC requirements for electrical and electronic components and subsystems for Ford and its associated vehicle brands. With this recognition, TÜV SÜD continues its 11-year relationship with Ford and its suppliers to perform all EMC and electrical tests within this specification.

In addition to the new Ford specification, the Plymouth EMC lab is expanding its capabilities and capacity by adding a 3 m, semi-anechoic chamber. This expansion will allow the lab to service the large electric vehicle (EV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) on the market. Along with the new chamber, new infrastructure and test equipment have been added specifically to support the testing of very large automotive battery systems.
