Body

Two new documents published by the International Organization for Standardization address supply chain security.

The documents will help implement ISO/PAS 28000:2005, a recently published specification for supply chain security management systems. They’re part of a suite of standards being developed by ISO/TC 8, “Ships and marine technology,” in partnership with several other committees and international organizations to secure intermodal supply chains.

ISO/PAS 28001:2006, “Security management systems for the supply chain—Best practices for implementing supply chain security—Assessments and plans,” will help organizations establish and document reasonable security in international supply chains and their components, and to make better risk-management decisions. ISO 28004:2006, “Security management systems for the supply chain—Guidelines for the implementation of ISO/PAS 28000” will help users understand and implement ISO/PAS 28000, and to maximize its benefits.
