DNV Certification was recently accredited to perform audits to RC 14001 by the ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Program (ANAB). The RC 14001 standard combines components of ISO 14001 and Responsible Care into one audit. In doing so, RC14001 goes beyond the scope of an environmental management system and encompasses occupational health and safety, product stewardship, community outreach and transportation safety issues. DNV is one of the first registrars to be approved for RC 14001.
The American Chemistry Council launched the Responsible Care program in 1988 in response to public concerns about the handling, use and creation of chemicals. The voluntary involvement of companies shows their commitment to the community and environment.
“Becoming accredited to provide RC 14001 audits shows DNV’s commitment to the environment and reflects out mission statement to safeguard life, property and the environment,” says Yehuda Dror, DNV Certification North America president. “We are one of the few registrars who have completed the process to become accredited for this standard because DNV sees the value not only the community but [also] the environment.”
