ASQ Presents First-Ever Gryna Award

Presented annually for the white paper that made the largest contribution to quality management

(ASQ: Milwaukee) -- The American Society for Quality (ASQ) will present the first Gryna Award to Deborah L. Hopen during its annual World Conference on Quality and Improvement, which will be held May 15, 2011, in Pittsburgh. Hopen is recognized for her innovative contributions and achievements in the area of quality methodology. She is president at Deborah Hopen Associates Inc. and a past president of ASQ.

Hopen was selected for writing the article, “The Changing Role and Practices of Successful Leaders,” which appeared in the April 2011 edition of The  Journal for Quality and Participation.

The Gryna Award was approved by the ASQ board of directors in February 2010. The criteria calls for it to be presented for the paper that made the largest contribution to the philosophy, principles, or methods of quality management during the past year.
