The American National Standards Institute recently released a guidance document for use by ANSI-accredited standards developers in connection with the maintenance of electronic records related to ANSI’s audit requirements.
Compliance records of standards developers are subject to ANSI audit, and because these organizations have increased their reliance on electronic records, the guidance document and a checklist were created to help achieve maximum efficiency. Using the checklist, a standards developer is able to categorize records so that each file can be properly identified by an auditor. In addition, developers can ensure that only relevant documents are provided to the auditor. “I believe this will help developers better prepare for their audits and provide a much more efficient audit process for the ANSI auditor,” says Jay Moskowitz, ANSI standards developer audit program director.
