The winners of the prestigious Six Sigma Excellence Awards were announced recently at the seventh annual Six Sigma Summit in Miami. Rudy Giuliani, former mayor of New York, was the conference’s keynote speaker, and conference organizer IQPC reported a significant increase in the number of applicants for each award.

In the Most Innovative Six Sigma Project category, the winner was Shaw Industries; Valley Baptist Health System received an honorary mention. In the Best Design for Six Sigma Project category, the winner was Delphi Corp., steering division; Dominion Resources received an honorary mention. In the Best Defect Elimination in Manufacturing Project category, Dominion Exploration & Production was the winner; Delphi Electronics & Safety received an honorary mention. In the Best Defect Elimination in Service and Transaction Project category, Shaw Industries was the winner; Delphi Corp. received an honorary mention. For the Best Six Sigma Project in Healthcare category, Virtua Health was the winner. In the Best Lean Six Sigma Project category, Patni Computer Systems was the winner; Lockheed Martin received an honorary mention. Finally, the ISSSP Annual Six Sigma Corporate Leadership Award was presented to DuPont Corp.
