Intentia recently launched a Theory of Constraints production planning solution for lean manufacturing applications. The solution is ideal for manufacturers with make-to-order environments where demand is volatile and different product lines share the same resources, creating bottlenecks. The critical bottleneck is the most overloaded resource that determines the maximum flow rate of production. The TOC solution allows manufacturers to optimize production through bottlenecks to meet market demand.
The company has implemented the TOC solution at two sites in Scandinavia and reports that both organizations saw immediate improvements. Implementations are already underway at three additional sites.
“Lean manufacturing focuses on enforcing customer value-adding activities throughout a factory by eliminating waste and striving toward continuous improvement,” says Andrew Dalziel, Intentia supply chain management product director. “With the introduction of a TOC planning solution, Intentia customers can achieve the many benefits of lean manufacturing by optimizing complex production scenarios.”
