Hotel’s Six Sigma Program Helps Earn Award

The Sheraton Miramar Resort, which recently implemented Six Sigma, was chosen by its parent company as the chain’s Hotel of the Year. The Sheraton Miramar Resort had the highest overall performance in 2004 of all of Starwood Resorts’ hotels in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Its financial results had large gains in revenue per available room (REVPAR), achieving 125-percent growth. In addition, the resort reached its incentive fee hurdle in 2004 for the first time since opening. Starwood Resorts reports that Sheraton Miramar has incorporated Six Sigma into every aspect of its day-to-day operations.

“The hotel has proven that great leadership, combined with a talented and motivated team, produces stellar results,” says Roeland Vos, Starwood divisional president for Europe, Africa and the Middle East. “We are all proud of the Sheraton Miramar and of all involved who made these outstanding achievements possible.”
