Event: Creating Stability with 5S and Visual Control Systems

Half-day workshop will help companies learn how to create and sustain a lean workplace that speaks for itself

(Visual Workplace Inc.: Byron Center, MI) -- Visual Workplace Inc., along with GBMP Inc, Bosch-Rexroth, Airline Hydraulic, and the 5S Store are sponsoring a half-day lean series workshop, The Foundation of Lean: Creating Stability with 5S and Visual Control Systems. The workshop will take place at the Best Western Hotel in Westminster, Maryland, on Sept. 22, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Attendees can expect to absorb the following topics as presented by 1990 Shingo Prize winner and current Shingo Prize examiner Patricia Wardwell, chief operating officer of GBMP Inc.:

• The latest information about 5S for workplace organization
• The implementation of visual control systems for workflow monitoring and management: “Making Your Operations Speak to You”
• Aligning your lean efforts with the Shingo Prize for Operational Excellence: What is it, who should challenge, and why?

In addition to being a Shingo Prize winner and examiner, Wardwell has more than 20 years of experience in manufacturing, she is a Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) lean gold-certified examiner, and is currently serving as chair of the Lean Certification Oversight and Appeals Committee which plays a critical role in administering the lean certification program developed by SME, the Association for Manufacturing Excellence (AME), and the Shingo Prize for Operational Excellence.

All attendees will have a chance to win one of the following items:

• Mobile In-House Sign Shop from Visual Workplace Inc.
• Set of 15 lean training videos and operational assessment from GBMP Inc.
