A case study of GE’s Six Sigma implementation is now available online from Best Practices LLC. “Building Six Sigma Excellence: A Case Study of General Electric,” examines GE’s quality efforts and compiles cost–saving steps from several top Six Sigma companies. A manufacturing company included in the case study explains how product innovation, improving new product success rates, shortened cycle times and lean principles helped the company save $500 million in one year.
Best Practices LLC, which compiled the report, observes that companies can save billions of dollars by eliminating ineffective processes and implementing customer-centric Six Sigma principles. Best Practices also recently released another report, “Lean, Six Sigma & TQM Project Success: Recent Cast Studies and Benchmarks,” which examines this phenomenon. The benchmark metrics in the report reveal which approach is best for the improvement sought, along with typical results. The report includes defect and cost reduction techniques, project improvement scope and average duration, average dollar value contribution expected for productivity approach and average targeted savings.
