Nutek Inc. will offer a seminar entitled “Product and Process Design Improvement Using the Taguchi Approach” in August. The event will be held August 2–5 at the Somerset Inn in Troy, Michigan. The seminar will prepare attendees for immediate application of the Genichi Taguchi technique in their own projects. Basic steps of design of experiments using Taguchi’s orthogonal arrays will be discussed in detail, allowing participants to clearly understand how the improvement and consistency of performance can be measured in statistical terms. Taguchi’s robust design strategy deals with the treatment of uncontrollable factors and demonstrates how to make performance insensitive to the influence of such factors. Major emphasis will be placed on the practical application of the Taguchi method, and discussions of theory and mathematical treatments will be kept to a minimum.
The seminar will be led by Ranjit K. Roy, Nutek president. Dr. Roy has authored two leading books on Taguchi applications. Attendees will receive a single-user copy of Nutek’s Qualitek-4 software, a copy of Design of Experiments Using the Taguchi Approach: 16 Steps to Product and Process Improvement (Wiley-Interscience, 2001) and a 2.4 CEU certificate.
