New England Bridge Is the First to Get ISO 14001 Registration

The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) recently received ISO 14001 registration of its Tobin Memorial Bridge, the first bridge in the United States to receive the designation. Massport, which also operates Logan International Airport, the Port of Boston, L.G. Hanscom Field and Worcester Regional Airport, has undertaken a comprehensive approach to environmental management of its facilities. L.G. Hanscom Field and the Conley Container Terminal recently became the first transportation facilities of their kinds to be registered to ISO 14001.

“ISO certification is part of a comprehensive strategy to ensure that all Massport facilities are operated in an environmentally sound and responsible manner,” says Craig Coy, Massport CEO. “The EMS initiatives support Massport’s overall corporate goal of ensuring that environmental considerations are included in business, financial, operational and programmatic decisions.”
