HealthStream Inc., a provider of learning solutions for the health care industry, recently acquired Data Management & Research Inc., a provider of quality and satisfaction surveys and other research-based measurement tools. HealthStream purchased all of DMR’s shares for approximately $10.6 million. The acquisition increases HealthStream’s earnings forecast by 35–40 percent over 2004’s results.

“The executive leadership at each of our 29 health system customers relies on our analyses to help direct their decisions and investments with regard to human capital development,” says Mel Thompson, DMR CEO. “DMR’s series of Quality Check surveys covers a wide range of organizational development issues, including questions about learning opportunities, communication and the clarity of organizational goals.”

“DMR has earned a solid reputation among the nation’s health care organizations for delivering decision-critical data analyses and results to hospital and health system executives,” says Robert A. Frist Jr., HealthStream CEO.
