General Electric Co. is in the process of acquiring Everest VIT Inc., a subsidiary of Welch Allyn. The company has announced that Everest VIT, a remote visual inspection equipment and services organization, will become part of GE Inspection Technologies, which is located in Huerth, Germany. Everest VIT will also add remote visual inspection to complement its nondestructive testing and diagnostic inspection product offerings. Terms of the transaction haven’t been disclosed.

In a letter to Everest VIT’s 300 employees and customers, Bruce Pellegrino, president and CEO, says that there will be no major changes to the company’s infrastructure. “GE Inspection Technologies has told us they have no plans to make any substantive staffing changes and intend to keep the Everest VIT sales and management organization in place,” Pellegrino says. “Together, we are committed to continuing to provide you with the same high-quality products and exception service you have come to expect.”

GE Inspection Technologies designs, manufactures and services radiographic, ultrasonic and eddy current equipment for nondestructive testing.
