The additions of CATSWeb dynamic forms and full-text search features are the centerpieces of the new release. Dynamic forms allows users to adapt based on prior inputs during the data entry process. Other features and typical uses include:
- Decision trees, in which the form adapts to provide only the fields and choices relevant to the user’s prior entries
- Context-sensitive data entry instructions, diagrams and aids
- Dynamic pictures and graphics that allow users to view a picture of the widget they just specified to visually confirm it’s the correct choice
- Data entry assistance, allowing related information from any system to be incorporated into the user interface while data entry is ongoing
- Real-time verification of data consistency against information in external systems
CATSWeb full-text search allows users to execute searches that can span across all CATSWeb records (both live and archived), inside attached files, in external files and linked information systems, and in CATSWeb help and external files.
“Flexible integration capabilities have always been an integral part of CATSWeb,” says Eric June, AssurX’s chief software architect. “After releasing our innovative Web services feature last fall, we turned our attention to the user experience. We wanted to increase productivity by enhancing the capabilities for finding and extracting data, especially unstructured data.”
Additional new features and improvements include electronic signature verification, enhanced e-mail integration, file attachment review that checks for worms and viruses before they enter the CATSWeb system, and portable Web services.
