The 2005 Best Practices Conference will feature Baldrige Award winners and two keynote speakers to discuss best practices and quality methodologies. The event is being organized by the California Council for Excellence and will be held Sept. 22–23 at the San Jose Marriott. Harry Hertz, director of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Program at the National Institute for Standards and Technology, and Cyndi Crother, author of Catch! A Fishmongers Guide to Greatness (Berrett-Koehler, 2003 ), will be the keynote speakers.

The Baldrige Award-winning companies that will share their best practices include The Bama Co., Baptist Hospital Inc., Caterpillar Financial Services Corp., and Community Consolidated School District #15. North Island Credit Union, of San Diego, which won the 2004 California Governor’s Award for Performance Excellence, will also participate.

Conference attendees will also have a site visit to Solectron Corp., a two-time Baldrige Award winner, and Sun Microsystems.
