Several Baldrige Award winners and award supporters met with key Congress members last month at the annual Quest for Excellence conference. The conference was hosted by the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award program and gives award winners an opportunity to share their successful quality strategies with eager-to-learn organizations from all over the country. This year event was held April 11–13.

Several representatives from Baldrige Award-winning companies used the conference to meet with Congress members. Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) met with the CEO of the The Bama Co., a 2004 Baldrige winner; and Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-TN) met with the executive vice president of Caterpillar Financial and a representative of the Tennessee Center for Performance Excellence.

Other meetings included the Boeing Co., California Council for Excellence and a legislative aide for Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA); Sen. Judd Gregg (R-NH) and the Granite State Quality Council and Hewlett-Packard’s New Hampshire manufacturing facility; and Sen. Wayne Allard (R-CO) and a delegation from the Kenneth W. Monfort College of Business at the University of Northern Colorado.
