[Artec 3D: Palo Alto, CA] -- Artec Group, developer and manufacturer of 3D scanning solutions, has launched a 3D scanning and printing service called Shapify.me.

If you use Microsoft Kinect for Windows or have Kinect for Xbox 360 equipment, you can scan yourself at home and upload the scan to the Shapify.me website. The 3D model will first be uploaded to the online gallery on www.shapify.me where you can fill out the form to order your 3D printed figurine. It will be sent to your address.

This isn’t a 3D image—it’s a solid, 3D figurine, like a miniature statue—that looks just like you, only smaller.  Much cooler than a photo.

Scan your friends and family to make unusual holiday gifts, or unique tree ornaments. Or scan your teammates for a 3D lineup.

The clone is available in monochrome (white) or multicolored plastic, and is 1/20th your actual height, about three to four inches. The detail of the multicolor figurine is good, as you can see in the image below.
