Dust collection systems remove dust and other particulate matter from the air, making them very important for many companies and even industries. The systems come in many forms and configurations for different applications and materials. At the highest level, they can be divided into three types: Cartridge dust collectors, baghouses, and cyclone dust collectors.

While several different types of dust collection systems are available, each type has unique advantages and disadvantages that make it better suited for certain applications than others. Here are some key considerations.

Cartridge

Cartridge dust collectors use pleated filters, known as cartridges, to trap and remove dust and other particles from the air. These are the pleated filters you’re used to seeing in your car or home. They’re well-suited for use in a variety of industrial and commercial environments, including woodworking shops, metalworking shops, and food processing facilities.
