(Olympus NDT: Waltham, MA) -- Olympus is pleased to announce the introduction of new 10-meter long scopes for the lightweight IPLEX LX and IPLEX LT industrial videoscopes. With an effective length of 10 meters (32.8 ft) and a diameter of 8.5 mm, the new scopes are ideally suited for applications that require visual testing of deep or difficult-to-reach areas.

The ruggedness of the new scopes and optimal longitudinal stiffness allows them to be easily pushed deep into objects such as heat exchangers, boiler tubes, tanks, and pumps in power plants, and petrochemical facilities. A wide range of interchangeable optical adaptors provides excellent magnification and direction while the LED lights at the scope tips deliver vivid illumination for easy detection of very small defects.

The IPLEX LX and LT are the most compact and lightweight of the IPLEX systems. Including the Lithium-ion battery and the long scope, they weigh just 3.9 kg (9 lb). The reason for this small size is that the LCD monitor is built into a main operating unit that is just 64 mm wide (2.5 in.) excluding the handle. The LCD monitor uses a large 6.5-inch screen with low ambient reflection, permitting accurate inspection even outdoors in direct sunlight.
