Wilcox Associates recently introduced STI+, an add-on module to its PC-DMIS software that simplifies shop floor measurements. STI+ allows users to check parts without having to become coordinate measuring machine experts. With a few mouse clicks, STI+ guides users through part setup and measurement and then produces concise, easy-to-understand and actionable reports. It combines sophisticated user interface technologies originally developed by Sheffield Measurement with the part programming and evaluation capabilities of PC-DMIS.

STI+ users can run preprogrammed inspection and review reports without any direct interaction with the underlying PC-DMIS software. Users select the part to inspect from a graphical list and inspection proceeds automatically, followed by another graphical list that shows features of interest and if they’re in- or out-of-specification. The end product is a measurement device that’s as simple to use as a go/no-go dedicated gage with the flexibility and analytical capabilities of a sophisticated measurement machine.
