(Nikon Instruments: Melville, NY) -- In response to an exciting new trend in digital photomicrography, Nikon Instruments Inc. is accepting movies taken through a microscope as a new category in the 37th annual Nikon Small World Photomicrography Competition. The introduction of this new category, titled "Small World in Motion," encompasses any movie or digital time-lapse photography taken through a microscope and adds a new, distinct discipline to the competition. The movies will be judged and honored as a separate category in the competition, complete with separate prizes for first, second, and third places. Entry deadline for movies and images is April 30, 2011.

Winners of the "Small World in Motion" category will be selected in a different judging process than that of the images.
