Economical Light Booth With Premium Performance

BYK-Gardner’s byko-spectra lite

Published: Wednesday, May 10, 2017 - 12:00

(BYK-Gardner: Geretsried, Germany) -- BYK-Gardner, a worldwide partner of the paint and plastic industries for quality control of color, appearance, and physical properties, is introducing the new light booth byko-spectra lite. In addition to the well-proven BYK-Gardner light booth range, the lite version wi

Visual perception is highly subjective as it is influenced by our individual color preferences depending on our personal experience. At the same time, we associate consistent color and appearance with high quality. An important criteria that affects how people buy things, is visual assessment.

As colors appear differently under different light sources, defined lighting conditions and standardized color-neutral environment are important in order to optimize the visual evaluation. byko-spectra lite offers light sources for daylight, home light, and department store light, which allow you to remove the risk of metamerism, a perceived matching of colors that, based on differences in spectral power distribution, do not actually match. Viewing under ultraviolet light helps you to detect and evaluate optical brighteners or fluorescent pigments. With its certified consistency, the byko-spectra lite helps you to evaluate according to all common standards, such as ISO, ASTM, DIN, SAE, and BSI, and obtain color assessment with confidence. Whether your product is a smart phone, cosmetics, or packaging, with this light booth, color communication is improved, and product rejections are reduced.

In the world of light sources, everybody knows that the real challenge is to offer a daylight source as near as possible to CIE standardized D65 illuminant. The daylight-based technology in BYK-Gardner’s light booths ensures consistent, accurate rendering of color with a CIE rating of B/C based on CIE Publication 51.

Instruments should assist you in your daily work, not increase it. The byko-spectra lite offers simple assembly without any tools and long-term, stable light sources with traceable certification. Easy lamp replacement and servicing combined with an elapsed time tracker that indicates when to replace the lamps make maintenance easy. For efficient work management, automatic sequencing provides a fixed viewing time for each source and helps to standardize testing procedures.

If you use an “objective eye,” BYK-Gardner offers a whole range of instruments for measuring color and appearance.
