(AIMS Metrology: Dayton, OH) -- Metrology continues to transition from its role as a final quality control checkpoint to an inline and in-process function. The ability to check parts as they are made enables manufacturers to adjust equipment in real time, helping to reduce scrap and rework. The diverse needs of a volatile marketplace prompted AIMS Metrology to expand its measurement and inspection products and develop new options in response to customer feedback.

The OEM will demonstrate its new multisensor 5-axis coordinate measuring machines (CMM) along with a new software platform and new options for FlexGauge and CCP comparators in Booth 134242 at IMTS 2026 in Chicago.

What the company has heard from manufacturing engineers is the need to inspect parts right on the shop floor in real time. This capability has been a core strength of its shop-floor series machines such as the HB and Summit 10.10.10. But advances in automotive drivetrain, defense, and aerospace components are moving that baseline and dictating tighter tolerances across the board. To meet those needs, AIMS designed and built the 5-axis multisensor LM-SF.

AIMS engineered the LM-SF for REVO 5-axis applications and advanced scanning with SP25 and lasers. The multisensor CMM allows an operator to perform different inspection tasks in one location. A thermal compensation system, active pneumatic vibration isolation, and a contamination mitigation system shield the CMM from the harsh elements of a factory environment. The LM-SF series can be fully automated for integration with a production cell or used as a stand-alone inspection station.

AIMS is also introducing the LM enhanced series 5-axis CMM. The new model increases accuracy by 30–40%. It also contains features such as advanced controllers and new technology for thermal compensation mapping. With demand growing for gears with tighter tolerances, AIMS has created a gear option for its FlexGauge, a tactile scanning instrument for small, high-precision parts. A new CCP retrofit drive will enable job shops and contract manufacturers to modernize aging comparators and return them to service.

AIMS is also introducing PolyWorks, its latest software package. The platform supports 3D measurement, quality control, and reverse engineering. It acts as a universal hub to connect 3D scanning hardware such as laser scanners and probes. Visitors will be able to see demonstrations of scanning with PolyWorks.
