(Hexagon: North Kingstown, RI) -- Hexagon Metrology has released CoreView 6.0 for the Cognitens WLS400 series. Winner of Photonics Tech Briefs’ 2011 Reader’s Choice Product of the Year, the WLS400 white-light series is available in both automated and manual configurations. Coreview 6.0, the latest upgrade to the WLS 400 series’ software suite, features offline programming, native 64-bit support, new measurement capabilities, and fast reporting tools along with computation accelerations and higher system throughput. The additional capabilities are designed to enhance inspections and increase overall system efficiency and throughput.

Native 64-bit architecture enables all CoreView modules to use full memory and CPU resources. This supports larger CAD files, dense point-cloud visualization and accelerated result computation. New flush and gap capabilities support measurement of matching parts, including studs, in their actual assembled position. Additionally, CoreView 6.0 provides a Metrology Advisor function that supports the Cognitens WLS400 user with online guidance and helps create a more efficient process for measuring points and features. Using the High Definition mode, the WLS 400A automated system recognizes character lines, also known as “tornado” or “beauty” lines along the entire length of a car. This function can be added to existing measurement routines, for example in automated Cognitens WLS400A closure cells. The improved Automated Measurement computation in Coreview 6.0 enables a higher system throughput by allowing a new measurement cycle to begin in parallel with computing measurement results of the previous run. This ensures continuous inspection with minimal interruptions. The software’s improved reporting functions feature newly designed call-out annotations with one-click positioning, alignment, and distribution of call-outs across the area of interest for meaningful presentation of measurement results.
