Mark Crossley

Mark Crossley has more than 20 years experience in the quality sciences and provides training on an international basis. He is a senior member of the American Society for Quality and is the author of The Desk Reference of Statistical Quality Methods. His academic and professional credentials include a bachelors degree in chemistry/mathematics and a masters of science in quality assurance from California State University. He holds several certifications from the American Society for Quality, including certified quality engineer, certified reliability engineer, certified quality manager, certified quality auditor and certified Six Sigma Black Belt. He’s also a Master Black Belt. Mark Crossley has been recognized by the ASQ as one of their highest rated instructors, having been awarded the Faculty Excellence Award in 1997 and 1998. He has also presented a wide variety of courses for the ASQ, including quality engineering, design of experiments, statistical process control, and advanced statistical process control. He has achieved the distinguished recognition of certified management consultant by the Institute of Management Consultants.

When we discuss or mention Six Sigma, we almost always hear about getting defect rates down to 3.4 ppm. Consider a light bulb. How would you like to have a defect rate of 3.4 ppm only to find out that the bulb lasted just 20 hours before it burned…
