Annelise Orleck

Professor, author, and editor

Dartmouth College

Annelise Orleck is a professor of history at Dartmouth College. She is the author of four books on the history of U.S. women, politics, immigration, and activism. They include Storming Caesars Palace: How Black Mothers Fought Their Own War on Poverty (Beacon Press, 2006), and Rethinking American Women's Activism, Reprint Edition (Routledge, 2014). She is also co-editor of The War on Poverty, A New Grassroots History, 1964–1980 (University of Georgia Press, 2011), and The Politics of Motherhood (Dartmouth, 1997). Orleck has a bachelor’s degree from The Evergreen State College, and a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from New York University.
