Michael Galler

Michael Galler is a mechanical engineer in the Mechanical Systems and Controls Group of the Energy and Environment Division (EED) of the Engineering Laboratory (EL) at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). He is currently working for the Mechanical Systems & Controls Group on the Commissioning Building Systems for Improved Energy Performance project, where his duties include expanding and improving the Virtual Cybernetic Building Testbed (VCBT), the HVAC-Cx commissioning software, the Functional Performance Test Module, the HVACSIM+ simulation program, the BACnet Data Source (BDS), and the BACnet Communications DLL (BCD). Galler previously supported the Visual Test Shell (VTS) and BISACS projects. He is the principal investigator for the Commissioning Building Systems for Improved Energy Performance project, and is founder of the ASHRAE MTG for Cybersecurity (MTG.CYB), past Chair of ASHRAE TC 1.5, and a voting member of TC 1.5, TC 7.5 and SGPC 36. Galler holds a master’s degree in materials science from the University of Maryland-College Park.
