The Wisconsin Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) recently awarded a total of $85,900 to 22 Green Bay-area manufacturing organizations for training and Six Sigma projects, and there is more money available.

The Green Bay Press Gazette reports that the money originates with the federal government and provides up to $4,000 in matching funds to local manufacturers to improve their businesses. Currently, the Wisconsin MEP has $54,100 in grant funding available. The Wisconsin MEP reports that in the past year it has helped 686 manufacturers in the state achieve $233 million in sales increases, cost savings, expense avoidances and retained sales, and saved or retained 2,696 jobs.

“The grants help local manufacturers implement projects like lean manufacturing, 5S workplace and Six Sigma,” says Jim Schmitt, Green Bay mayor. “To the small entrepreneur, $4,000 can really make the difference.”
