Body
Two recently released books look at the changes and best practices organizations should follow to comply with the 2006 Baldrige criteria. This year’s changes to the Baldrige criteria include a focus on organizations’ business ethics and governance systems, along with their emergency-preparedness plans. In total, there are 33 areas addressed in the 2006 Baldrige criteria, including increased focus on leadership, strategic planning, measurement analysis, knowledge management and business results. Mark Graham Brown’s Baldrige Award Winning Quality (Productivity Press, 2006) addresses how to prepare for a site visit, its purpose, what a Baldrige examiner looks for and the questions typically asked during a visit, among other measures.

The Pocket Guide to the Baldrige Award Criteria (Productivity Press, 2006), is a guide to the seven Baldrige categories. It begins with answers to commonly asked questions about the criteria, then explains those criteria while offering quick tips that can help compliance.
