Body
The American National Standards Institute recently announced the availability of a Chinese translation of the United States Standards Strategy (USSS). As part of ANSI’s commitment to promote awareness of the document’s initiatives and to support the implementation efforts of various stakeholder groups, the agency is providing the English and Chinese versions of the USSS via ANSI’s Web site by free download.

The People’s Republic of China contributed more to global economic growth than any other country between 2000 and 2004. It represents the fastest-growing market for U.S. exports. Ranked by American exporters as one of the most significant market-access issues, consistent standards compliance has become a priority in U.S.-China trade.

The USSS is built upon the principles of openness, transparency, consensus and due process upheld by the World Trade Organization’s Technical Barriers to Trade Agreement. Its final version was approved by ANSI’s board of directors in December.
