AEA, a high-technology trade group, will host a series of six events focusing on new and upcoming regulations that restrict hazardous substances in electrical and electronic components. The European Union Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE) and Restriction on the use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (RoHS) will get extra attention, along with an examination of the latest global regulations affecting electronic component design. The events will include legal analysis from partners of Allen & Overy LLP, an international firm that specializes in this area. The workshops will be held in March and April in Santa Clara, California; Seattle; Andover, Massachusetts; Chicago and Denver.
“The European WEEE and RoHS directives are only the beginning of an environmental-regulation movement, and AeA will continue to provide members with the latest information,” says Becky Linder, AeA international-trade policy director. “AeA is actively lobbying to ensure that regulatory developments do not create market access barriers and unrealistic compliance requirements.”
