Shuster Laboratories Expands Food Testing Facilities

Shuster Laboratories Inc. recently expanded its food testing capacity to meet increasing demand from manufacturers, retailers and food service establishments.

The company, based in Canton, Massachusetts, invested in state-of-the-art equipment for the rapid turnaround of microbiological and analytical testing. The increased capacity will allow Shuster Laboratories to handle more samples, which will also allow it to offer more competitive pricing. “Our clients expect us to be on the forefront of every technological development in the industry, and our expanded food testing laboratories will help us to continue to meet their high expectations,” says Philip H. Katz, Shuster Laboratories president.

In addition, Shuster Laboratories acquired more equipment for paper product and package testing. The extra services help food service establishments and retailers evaluate prospective vendors, validate supplier claims and meet quality expectations. The laboratory includes equipment for measuring paper product porosity and air permeability, bursting force, stiffness, smearing of printed material, flow rate of moisture, tear resistance, breaking strength and thickness.
