Pilgrim Software Inc. announces that Blood Systems successfully implemented its SmartCAPA deviation and nonconformance management solution at 35 sites across the United States.

SmartCAPA is a fully integrated part of Pilgrim’s Microsoft .NET-based SmartSolve Integrated Compliance Management suite. It can be rapidly deployed and centrally managed from Blood Systems’ Scottsdale, Arizona, headquarters and allows secure, real-time access to data, tasks and reports through a Web browser.

“We are very pleased with the successful go-live of Pilgrim’s SmartCAPA system across our organization,” says Mike Rangel, corporate quality assurance manager for Blood Systems. “It gives us one standardized system for managing corrective and preventive actions that we can use across our entire organization. This gives us in-depth visibility into potential trouble spots so we can focus resources where they are needed to eliminate the root causes of problems and prevent their recurrence.”

Blood Systems also purchased Pilgrim’s SmartAudit software, used to manage internal and external quality assessments, and its SmartDoc software, used for document management and SOP enforcement. Implementation of the solutions is now underway, the company reports.
