(Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence: Cobham, England) -- Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division introduces ATLASCAN Pro, a new handheld 3D scanner that brings professional-grade laser scanning to entry-level users in any industry. Using multiple laser lines and a unique processing algorithm, ATLASCAN Pro achieves fast scanning and high-quality data capture in an affordable, easy-to-use device that anyone can learn.

Versatile and highly portable, the scanner weighs just 1 kg, allowing operators to take it directly to the parts—such as pump housings, automotive bodywork, or domestic appliances—on the shop floor and beyond. With up to 2 hours battery operation through hot swappable batteries and a robust Wi-Fi 7-ready wireless option, its dynamic scanning capabilities ensure a smooth scan when the part is moving, or in unstable or rough environments such as inspecting propellers or inside pipework.
Delivering unparalleled speed in its class, ATLASCAN Pro scans large areas up to 720 x 640 mm in standard mode, scanning at up to 4 million points per second. Operators can easily switch between standard and higher-precision modes using an ergonomic thumb-switch on the device to achieve a higher-density resolution over a 160 x 140 mm area.
Reverse engineering workflows are streamlined. Users can easily scan smaller parts, such as damaged components or electrical connectors, on a worktop from any angle, capturing missing details and high-density data with less guesswork or cleanup. It’s designed to plug into any existing software workflows, and Hexagon is offering a starter bundle with its Geomagic Design X Go software at no additional cost. This enables users to re-create parts without the original design and accelerate scan-to-3D models or scan-to-print for additive manufacturing. Power users can upgrade to Geomagic Design X for advanced CAD functionality, or use their preferred reverse-engineering software platforms.
For quality control and inspection, ATLASCAN Pro is certified according to VDI/VDE 2634-3 and includes Hexagon’s proprietary HH Scan software, so anyone can get started with dimensional inspection and easy-to-use analysis (3D color map, geometric features, and reporting). The scanner is software-agnostic, with direct scanning support for Geomagic Control X and Geomagic Design X available from launch, and third-party vendor support coming soon.
“The ATLASCAN Pro is a handheld 3D scanner that anyone can pick up and use. It puts fast professional-grade scanning in the hands of people who need it, at a very accessible price that complements our growing 3D handheld scanner offering,” says Darren Goh, product director for handheld 3D scanners at Hexagon “Not every application requires the ultraprecision Hexagon is known for, and I’m excited to see what opportunities this opens up for users who want to integrate high-productivity reverse engineering, maintenance, or 3D model creation into their daily workflows—whether that’s making baths, baby toys, or buses.”
ATLASCAN Pro complements the metrology-grade ATLASCAN Max and MARVELSCAN, a patented, target-free, handheld 3D scanner with built-in photogrammetry. Ideal for measuring large-volume (more than 4 m) and moving objects with 0.05–0.14 mm accuracy, the HYPERSCAN series—released in May 2025—combines an optical tracker and scanner system to provide real-time dynamic tracking, and completes Hexagon’s current handheld 3D scanner range.
